Placement

Orient the long axis north-south so both sides get sun. Plant cucumbers at the base of each side.

Steps

  1. 1Cut four 2Γ—2 legs to 6 ft each.
  2. 2Build two rectangular frames, each 4 ft wide at the bottom and 5 ft tall.
  3. 3Attach the mesh to one side of each frame using staples or screws with washers.
  4. 4Hinge the two frames together at the top so they form an A when opened.
  5. 5Set the trellis over two planting rows and push the legs slightly into the ground.
  6. 6Plant cucumbers at the base of each side, 6 inches from the mesh.
  7. 7Guide the first vines onto the mesh; after that they climb on their own.
