Placement

Anchor legs 12–18 inches into the ground or set in concrete. Wide enough for a wheelbarrow if it's the main path.

Steps

  1. 1Cut two side posts to 7.5 feet each.
  2. 2Build two identical side panels with a slight taper toward the top.
  3. 3Bend or cut arch pieces to connect the tops.
  4. 4Assemble the arch on the ground first.
  5. 5Set it over the path and bury the legs 12–18 inches.
  6. 6Backfill and tamp soil firmly.
  7. 7Plant vines at the base of each leg.

Tighten screws each spring. Prune vines to keep the arch shape visible. Re-paint metal arches if rust appears.
