Tools needed

  • Β·Circular saw or miter saw
  • Β·Cordless drill / driver
  • Β·Tape measure
  • Β·Speed square
  • Β·Safety glasses

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Β·Building a flat lid β€” rain pools and it overheats faster
  • Β·No venting β€” plants cook on sunny days even in winter
  • Β·Using single-pane glass in a windy spot
  • Β·Placing it in deep shade or where water pools

Maintenance tips

Prop the lid open on sunny days. Replace weatherstripping if it rots. Empty and store the lid before heavy snow if it cannot bear weight.
