Formula: length × width × depth

Round up when ordering. Mulch settles 10–20% over the first month; soil and compost compact slightly once watered.

Mulch

Spread 2–3 in deep around established plants. Keep mulch a few inches away from stems and trunks to prevent rot.

Raised-bed soil

Fill beds 6–12 in deep. A mix of topsoil, compost, and aeration materials like perlite or coco coir works best.

Compost

Add a 1–2 in layer on top of beds or mix into the top few inches of soil. Finished compost should smell earthy, not sour.
